After hearing extremely mixed reviews, I finally saw Inglourious Basterds. I don’t know why anyone wouldn’t love the movie! It was really funny with just the right amount of gruesome shots and a good revenge story. There was a good mix of action, sarcasm, sadness and humor.
The movie is about Nazi occupied France during the second world war. A group of Brits are traveling France looking for Nazis to kill. Brad Pitt is one of these Nazi-killing men. At the same time, Nazis are looking for Jews to kill. A young Jewish girl named Shosanna survives after the Nazis kill her family. She takes over a cinema in France and years later finally has the chance for her sweet revenge (and it is sweet!).
The movie was written and directed by Quentin Tarantino. He will always have a part of my heart with Pulp Fiction, my all-time favorite. Tarantino did not disappoint in this movie, unlike the mess that was Death Proof. The acting was really well cast in this movie. Brad Pitt’s role was enjoyable and refreshing. Melanie Laurent, a French actress, really shined as Shosanna. Diane Kruger did a good supporting role. Austrian actor Christoph Waltz portrayed a crazy Nazi in what seemed a very accurate way.
