The second subpar film that I watched Oct. 3 was The Devil’s Tomb, directed by Jason Connery, yes he’s the son of Sean Connery. This was the first flick he directed but he’s been acting since the early 1980s.
The film is a bit confusing, so let me try to sum up the plot…an elite group of soldiers led by Cuba Gooding Jr. are sent into an underground laboratory to rescue a distressed scientist played by the legendary Ron Perlman. While underground, things start to turn a little paranormal and soldiers starting ‘dying off.’
The film was enjoyable up until the moment it started getting deep into the plot and an ancient evil in the form of an alien is introduced. The movie stopped making sense to me and I was thoroughly confused with what was going on. The aliens basically go around possessing everybody in sight, via this black liquid they shoot into their mouths, and once they have control of the person it starts recruiting more people for the aliens.
There was a pretty good cast line-up, with Perlman, Gooding, Jason London, Valerie Cruz and Taryn Manning, but the script was so terrible that the cast couldn’t make up for it.
