On September 26, I viewed Shane Acker’s 9. I really enjoyed this movie and highly recommend it. I don’t usually like animated films but this one was so well done, I eventually forgot I was even watching an animated movie. The graphics were amazing, you could really see the detail that was put into this movie.
The plot line is about a scientist who created this machine, which was meant to do the world good, but was put into the hands of the wrong men. Basically the machine takes over the world and everyone dies. In comes, these little thread dolls that the scientist made before he died. (see above picture) The dolls work toward regaining power from the machines and have to avoid dying, because the machine is re-awoken and is hungry.
The main characters are played by Elijah Wood, John C. Reilly, Christopher Plummer and Jennifer Connelly. The majority of the characters are very sweet, but extremely shy because they’ve been hiding from this machine in the midst of a post-apocalyptic world. Throughout the movie the viewer gets to find out more about the characters and grows to care about them. There’s a lot of humor in the film as well, through the small amount of dialogue there is and character interaction and expression.
