I watched Fair Haired Child recently, one film from the 2006 “Masters of Horror” series. It was a very odd movie, but managed to keep my interest the entire time. Basically it’s about a girl, Tara, who’s kidnapped and taken a few states over. She is kept in the basement of a house and meets Johnny, another 13-year-old. Turns out, he died when he was 13 and his parents made a pact with an evil spirit in order to resurrect him. In order to live again, 12 teenagers have to be sacrificed…Tara being the last one.
By the end of the movie, Johnny makes a pact with the evil spirit to get Tara back…at the cost of his two parents. The movie didn’t do the best job explaining itself, I was confused for a lot of it. The ending was disappointing and very unrealistic. The movie did excel at imagery though. The evil entity which comes out of Johnny before every ‘feasting’ had a great creep-factor. Just check out the photo, you won’t want to look at it long.
The movie was written by Matt Greenberg, who has written a few films —1408, Reign of Fire, and Halloween H20: 20 Years Later.
